Challenging SAT Math Problem Made Laughably Easy With Desmos
Some of the most otherwise challenging SAT math problems can be made incredibly easy to solve by incorporating a few Desmos tricks. On the SAT Practice Test #6 provided by the College Board, question #26 in math module 1 tasks us with using a data table to deduce some properties of a function that corresponds with the data provided. In this situation, the regression feature in Desmos can be used to directly solve for the function. The rest of the problem can thereby be solved incredibly quickly. The algebraic solution is much more tedious, error prone, and non-intuitive. This takes a question which might have token over 3 minutes to solve, down to just 30 seconds or less.
The Hardest SAT Math Topic: Advanced Math
When students prepare for the SAT math section, one topic consistently stands out as the hardest: advanced math. Perhaps this is not too surprising given the name. This category encompasses quadratic functions, exponential growth and decay, systems of equations, and more.
